Fundraiser Hits Halfway Mark, Boosting Disability Tennis Programmes

Bright Ideas for Tennis has hit the halfway mark in our inspiring “24 Hour Activity Challenge” fundraiser, raising vital funds for disability tennis programmes across the UK. With the support of our passionate participants, we are well on our way to achieving our goal of expanding opportunities for people with disabilities to experience the transformative power of tennis.

The ongoing fundraiser has engaged fundraising teams to raise awareness and support for our flagship disability programme, ‘I Play 30’, which provides free weekly tennis activities for individuals with disabilities, including those with autism and special educational needs (SEN). The funds raised will directly benefit these inclusive tennis sessions, ensuring we continue to make a lasting impact on participants by building life skills, promoting social inclusion and enhancing physical and emotional well-being.

“We’re thrilled to see the outpouring of support so far. This fundraiser isn’t just about raising money; it’s about raising awareness and empowering people with disabilities to experience the joy and benefits of tennis. Every pound raised brings us closer to expanding our programme to new areas and reaching more people in need.” Danny Sapsford, Charity Manager.

Success Stories

The I Play 30 programme is full of inspiring stories from participants, including individuals with learning difficulties. One such story comes from the pupils of Castle Hill High School who, after attending I Play 30 sessions at Davenport Lawn Tennis Club, gained the confidence to communicate and interact with others in new ways.

I Play 30 Coach Ben told us “It’s very rewarding to see all of the I Play 30 participants so engaged and enjoying tennis. They are growing in confidence and learning to develop friendships. It has encouraged more volunteers to step forward at the club too.”

A volunteer mentioned to us “I’ve enjoyed taking part in something new and helping pupils who really appreciate the support. I would absolutely recommend other clubs to get involved.”

These real-life stories, are encouraging others to get involved, whether by participating in the activities, volunteering, or donating to the cause. How can you help? Visit our challenge page for all the details, it’s not too late to join us!

A Look Ahead

With the fundraiser reaching its halfway point, we are calling on supporters to continue their efforts in the remaining weeks. Our aim is to push beyond the halfway mark and make the final phase of the campaign a huge success. The funds raised will be allocated to our I Play 30 disability programme, allowing more venues across the country to host accessible and inclusive tennis sessions.
