I Play 30 – How Tennis Teaches Life Skills

We believe that tennis can be a powerful tool for personal growth, especially for individuals with autism.

Our I Play 30 sessions are free weekly tennis activities that help participants develop new life skills while enjoying the game. We recognise that each participant is unique, which is why we tailor our lessons to suit different age groups and abilities.

We partner with several SEN schools and community groups to ensure that our tennis programs are inclusive and accessible. Our approach focuses on creating a welcoming and supportive environment where participants feel safe, engaged, and eager to learn.

Here’s how our dedicated team of coaches and volunteers ensure that every participant thrives during our sessions:

Adaptability: Danny, Mark, Jon and Stuart lead disability training sessions for every club that takes part in I Play 30, preparing them to host activities and games which are designed to match the abilities and preferences of each player, allowing them to learn at their own pace.

Safety and Comfort: Our priority is creating an atmosphere where participants feel safe, both physically and emotionally at the tennis club both on and off the court. This builds trust and confidence in their learning journey and reduces anxiety the participants might have entering a new space.

Fun-Focused Learning: By making tennis enjoyable, we inspire players to develop skills that extend beyond the court, including coordination, communication, and social interaction.

Through our I Play 30 initiative, we aim to provide more than just tennis lessons – we aim to help participants build transferable life skills that can enhance their everyday lives – with over 100 venues hosting I Play 30 sessions we are doing a fantastic job already in giving more players the chance to take part in tennis.

Let’s keep it going!
